Deposit of Labour Welfare Fund Contribution / Unpaid wages by the employers/establishments under the Punjab Labour Welfare Fund Act 1965

CHANDIGARH LABOUR WELFARE BOARD

The Chandigarh Labour Welfare Board is constituted under The Punjab Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1965" with  an aim of providing social security and welfare to the workers working in the organized sector i.e. workers who are working in the factories , shops and commercial establishments.  The main source of funding in Labour Welfare Board is the contribution received from various establishments in shape of Labour Welfare Fund and unpaid wages.The objective of the Board is to extend the benefit to the maximum number of workers and providing them financial assistance by way of direct transfer into their bank accounts, under various welfare schemes of Board in a very transparent and efficient manner. The sources of receipt of revenue of Board is as under: -

  1. a) Contribution from employees and employers

Under section 9-A the provision of rate of contribution from the employees working in the Industrial and Commercial Establishments and Employers is as under: -

  1. b) Unpaid accumulations from employers :

Under section 3 and 9 of the Punjab Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1965, any payment due to an employee but remaining unpaid with the employer for a period of three years including wages, bonus, gratuity etc. is to be transferred by the management to the Labour Welfare Board.
